Survivor of sex trafficking to speak at Friends University

A woman lured into human trafficking as a teen will share her story at Friends University next week.

Theresa Flores, author of ?The Slave Across the Street,? will speak at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 in the Riney Fine Arts Center?s Sebits Auditorium.

At 15, Flores was trapped in a large criminal ring, enduring rape, forced drugging and torture at the hands of human traffickers for two years.

The event is free and open to the public, but organizers caution the presentation may not be appropriate for children younger than 13.

For further details on the event, call Friends University?s Student Affairs Office at 316-295-5832. For more information on human trafficking, call the Center for Exploited and Missing Children at 1-800-843-5678.
